Hi everyone!
We havent been able to work as much as wed like this week because
one of my companions got sick. Shes been having issues for a few
months now and theyre still working on whats causing it. We think
just stress. But weve had to take her home a couple days this week
and were stuck inside til we could find a member to come and stay with
her. But she was able to talk to our president and shes feeling a bit
better about the things that were stressing her. Well go to the
doctor this week so hopefully her lab tests will show something.
July 4th was fun! We were planning almost all day long, for about 5
hours straight, then got out for two hours to to some appointments
then headed home at six again since we couldnt be out. But it was
fun! We got pizza and made this yummy Tongan fruit drink and hung out
in the apartment watching The Testaments. The little kids in our
apartments were setting off fireworks all day. They scared us when we
saw one go under a van parked outside! But really people didnt
celebrate it as much as they did New Years Eve.
We were going to go to the visitors center with a few families
yesterday. Didnt happen. All of them canceled the day of or the hour
of so we didnt go. Its sad because the kids of the one family wanted
to go so bad but because of the parents they didnt get to. That is
probably my biggest annoyance, lazy parents. Or rather parents who
arent willing to sacrifice for the good of their children. Were
teaching some wonderful kids that are ready to be baptized, but
because the parent doesnt want to get up for church they cant.
On a better note in august well be having a meeting with all of the
sisters. We got to talk with the presidents wife while he talked to
our other comp and she was asking us for ideas. So we told her that
weve been practicing a hula that we could do at the meeting, so it
seems well be doing a Hawaiian theme! It sounds like well be having
a lot of fun!
Well I love you all and hope things are going well!

Things are going so good but I'm kind of sad. Jesus, the guy that got baptized a bit ago, blessed the sacrament this Sunday, then left for Mexico a few hours later. He'd been saying lately that he really
misses his family because he doesn't have anyone here. He said that ever since he started coming to church he started missing them and wanting to see them. He says that now he understands how important
they are to him and he wanted to go back. We're praying the he gets there safely and doesn't get taken en route. We're really happy because he's so strong in his faith and will go and bring the church to his little farm there because it's not there yet. He's going to change the lives of so many people there.
Not much to say this week really except I'm not training yet and were not moving! Were staying together for one more transfer but we might get another companion, well tell you more later!
Sorry I dont have more to say right now, next week will be a longer letter.
Love you all!!!!

Hi!
This week the mission president at a class came up to my comp and I
and said that she has a "special assignment" then turned to me and
told me about the new sister that will be coming in on next monday. So
basically i'll be training. I'm really excited that its finally time!
Hes been hinting at this for a few months now!
Jesus is a great guy! He was called as a ward missionary, and it was so
neat yesterday to see him biking to church with a white shirt and tie
and a big grin on his face. We looked at him and just said, Wow, he
looks like a missionary! Hes going to do really well in his calling!
We set the date for the boy who fasted for his dad for the 30th. Hes
so excited! When we asked him if that day was okay he said, Finally!
Ive been waiting since October!
This week was fun! On Monday we took all our recent converts and some
investigators to the new temple in Phoenix to take a tour of the site.
Its still not done yet but it was good for them. My companions
parents are missionaries there, have I mentioned that before? So when
we went up her mom made us cookies. Then after that our recent convert
wanted to treat everyone to ice cream.
Cant say much about the details, but I have learned to be very
careful of who you marry and to watch them close before you do. This
poor woman we visit, she found out some things and now shes getting
ready to leave him with her baby and with one on the way. She had a
feeling this might happen but she didn't think it would.
Not much happened this week, we just worked hard and saw a lot of
people. We had a really good conference with our mission president and
his wife and were putting the things we learned into practice and
its helping a lot!
Remember that next week well write you on Tuesday not Monday! Love you all!

This week was fairly normal. One of the families in our ward is
amazing, they help us so much! We’re teaching the grandsom that lives
with them and he’s so ready to be baptized. He isn’t baptized yet
because he was waiting for his dad to get out of jail so that he could
be there for it;. This weekend he had his trial so we taught him about
fasting and we all fasted together that things will go well. His dad’s
a good guy, he was just paying a little bit of time for some silly
things he did as a kid. The kid is funny! At church he came up all
serious and asked me, “Does it count as eating if I eat a tic tac?
Because I already ate one.”
We’re also teaching these three sisters that are amazing! They really
want to learn and do good things. We taught two of them the plan of
salvation and all of the sudden the little sister, seven years old,
started crying! We asked her what was wrong and she she wouldn’t
answer, so we asked her if she was sad for the people that wouldn’t
get to live with God after and she nodded, then said, “I feel like I’m
going with them because I’ve done bad things.” We hugged her and let
her know it was okay, that she wasn’t going to be cause she was doing
really good things and that she’s trying to follow jesus so she’ll be
just fine. She’s such a sweet little girl, and afterwards she felt
better and said a wonderful prayer. I love her prayers, because when
she prays, you know that she’s talking to God.
We threw a surprise birthday party for Sister Andersen this week, her
comp planned it all and it was great! The ward members love to do
things for us, they had a great time!
The young man that was baptized is doing great! He was sustained
yesterday to receive the priesthood and in a week he’s going to bless
the sacrament. He really wants to follow God and is so willing to help
and serve others. He understand what the whole purpose of the church
is, it’s not to just go and sit in a pew and hear speakers, it to help
people grow and become better people, to show the love of God to
everyone and give them the support they need to follow Christ.
And then there are others that just won’t help themselves. It makes us
so sad to visit this woman. She knows she needs help, that she has to
do SOMETHING to change her life, because she’s miserable. We do our
best but if she doesn’t take the steps then we can’t do anything. God
will force no man or woman to heaven or happiness in this life.
On a brighter note we’re all going to go do something fun today. We’re
going bowling with the Elders in our ward and some of the YSA. It’ll
be great!

Hope you're all doing well! Thank you for all the letters and
packages! (I love the socks mom :) ) I'll try and write back when I
can.
Last monday we did something fun! We all went to the zoo! It was
awesome! I'll send pictures next week. We got to pet stingrays and
sharks and starfish. There was a lot of baby animals there right now.
This zoo works with a group to help repopulate endangered species into
the wild. It was fun!
We're teaching lots of really great people right now. We're teaching
one family in particular, we had such a good lesson this week! We've
been teaching just the parents because all the kids (all over 17) had
no interest at all. Then the other day we invited them in to pray with
us for a moment since they were all in the next room with two cousins.
They all came in and after the lesson didn't get up to leave right
away so we went ahead with the lesson. We ask them all if they were
interested in knowing where they were before they were born and if
they wanted to know what happens after we die. They didn't leave and
kind of nodded. So we started teaching them and they were talking
about how they believed in being free spirits and that they think that
there's a God or at least some kind of energy. It was a really good
lesson, the spirit was there really strong! By the end the oldest
brother, the one who said he didn't believe in anything, said he'd
like to try praying. At the end we invited the mom the pray and she
did and thanked God that she could be here with all of her children
praying together.
Right after we went to her moms house, now that we'd found out the
address. Because her husband died recently so we stopped by and asked
if we could sing her a hymn. We were in there trying to think what one
and filling through saw count your many blessings. So we sang that and
asked if we could leave her with a prayer. My comp prayed and in the
prayer the woman started to cry. We just sat and talked for a while
after that and invited her to church, but it was what she needed.
We had a really good week, love you all! Talk to you all in two months!
